Are We Being Controlled By Banks?
By Elena Grace Flores
There is no denying that there’s power in money! Democracy dictates that all citizens are equal before the law whether rich or poor but is this really true in the real sense of society? If riches can make anyone purchase better properties, belongings, life style and status symbol, why not better connections and influences? Banks manage money and provide products or services for profits such as loans, credits, and payment modes such as checking accounts, debit cards, and manager's checks. Investment and insurance plans are also offered to people who have the means. Over time, consolidation of the finance industries happened with banks doing the tasks of insurance and securities companies but still retaining their primary role accepting deposits and lending money. It is said to be the ultimate goal of bankers around the world to create a cashless society using digital money. They use a very strategic advertising campaign that works very well as citizens embrace their existence as status symbol for their pleasure and comfort. It’s like an asset that everyone would like to tell others about - the very reason why patrons of the cashless system are rapidly increasing. Are we being led into a system where everything we do is regulated, controlled, and tracked by the banks that we trusted - without knowing it or perhaps most people just don’t care about it? On the other hand, scandals from social media sites dominate the news today where some people’s privacy is being invaded – whether they are popular or not. Why is there so much public outrage on this matter if we really don’t care about other people or institutions tracking our private movements? The worst thing is yet to come according to a segment from the Corbett Report stating that there is a plan to bring society into a cashless system run by the very banks being protested by the Occupy Wall St. movement – realities of this can be seen in Louisiana, where cash transactions are being banned. The bankers in question are said to be vocal about their intention of controlling everything even reproduction or population control in the near future. In the West, the bank is perceived having greater power than the Church and the King put together. While kings can create laws, banks are noted to create money out of nothing and buy their own territories. They are allegedly guilty of usury – lending money at exorbitant rate using credits they created. This is a strong accusation but seems to be supported by the founder of the Bank of England in 1964 who said: “The bank hath benefit of interest on all moneys which it creates out of nothing.” William Paterson. Contemplating on this view by Thomas Jefferson in the debate over the Re-charter of the Bank Bill in 1809, I can’t help but wonder why we allow banks to control us? - If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks…will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered…. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. Are we really being controlled by banks? Actually yes in a way because at this age and time, it is hard to live without them - but in a positive light, banks protect hard earned money from fraudulent activities, banks are sources of financial capitals for businesses, they organize financial transactions of the people and they made sure that the flow of reserves are balanced economically. Who could blame them when they earn more from penalties imposed to undisciplined customers?

Perhaps if one first agrees with the premise that , "If riches can "make" anyone purchase better properties...". I don't believe riches force anyone to make purchases of anything.

True! Force is a strong word ... I guess it's a matter of choice. Elena
